Best Camping Chairs & Folding Tables Australia 2026

Moon chairs, recliners, stools and folding tables: what to check before you buy camp furniture.

5 min read · Updated October 2026

Camping chairs and a good folding table are the heart of any campsite. They get used every single day of a trip, so cheap ones that sag or wobble get old fast.

Here's what separates a chair you'll keep for years from one that ends up in the bin at the first caravan park.

Check the weight rating first

Every chair has a maximum load. Look for it on the listing and leave a margin: a chair rated close to your weight is working at its limit every time you sit down, and that's when frames bend and fabric tears.

Steel frames are strong and cheap but heavy; aluminium is lighter to carry and stow but usually costs more for the same rating.

Which style suits you

Moon chairs wrap around you and are great for relaxing, but they sit low and can be hard to get out of for some people. High-back chairs with armrests are easier on knees and backs.

Recliners are the most comfortable for long afternoons but pack bigger and heavier. Folding stools are the lightest option for fishing, the beach or extra guests.

Small details matter more than they look: a cup holder, a side pocket and a sun canopy all get used every day.

Tables: height and stability

Roll-up aluminium tops are light and pack small. Check the height against your chairs: a low table with high chairs (or the reverse) is uncomfortable to eat at.

Campsites are rarely flat. Adjustable or wide-set legs keep a table steady on uneven ground, which matters most when there's a hot stove on it.

Packed size and payload

Two chairs and a table can easily weigh 10–15 kg together. Check each item's packed weight and size on the listing, and add it to your payload in your free KamperHub garage so it's counted with everything else you carry.
